Yes, it would help, of course. However some bottlenecks still remain, the one covered in this article, browser rendering time, which affects the apparent loading time of a page and is solely dependent on how fast the client’s computer renders the page - and another thing that will be covered in my article’s follow-up, client-to-server communication. One of the issues there for example, is that by default browsers only allow two outstanding connections per hostname, simply meaning that only two images are being downloaded at one time. So even if your ISP is ultra effective, those issues are still affecting the loading speed.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but does bandwidth optimization have anything to do with the speed? Would my ISP be able to speed up how quickly I can view sites by getting some kind of traffic shaping product?
